Man of Tomorrow’ Wraps Up Filming: James Gunn’s DC Sequel Gears Up for July 2027 Release

DC Studios has announced the official wrap of principal photography for Man of Tomorrow, the follow-up feature to the 2025 Superman film. Directed by James Gunn, the upcoming project continues the narrative arc of the restructured DC Universe (DCU), following the streaming and box-office reception of earlier DCU media properties like Lanterns.

David Corenswet reprises his role as Clark Kent/Superman, joined by Nicholas Hoult returning as Lex Luthor. According to production updates shared by Gunn, the storyline features an alliance between Superman and Luthor to counter Brainiac, an extraterrestrial cybernetic intelligence serving as the primary antagonist.

The ensemble cast includes Rachel Brosnahan returning as Lois Lane, alongside Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El (Supergirl), following her introduction earlier in the year. Aaron Pierre also transitions from the television series Lanterns to feature film production within the same continuity, portraying John Stewart.

Filming for the project was conducted under the production codename Exodus, following the use of Genesis for the preceding film. Man of Tomorrow is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 9, 2027, marking the fourth major theatrical entry in the ongoing DCU slate following the upcoming release of Clayface.
