Neelu Vaghela on Joining Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai Post-Leap: “It Felt Like a Dream Come True”

Veteran television actress Neelu Vaghela, widely revered for her iconic portrayal of Bhabho in Diya Aur Baati Hum, is set to enter Rajan Shahi’s long-running family drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai following its upcoming post-leap track. Expressing her excitement over joining the show, the versatile performer shared that working with Director’s Kut Productions and Star Plus on a project with such a massive 18-year legacy feels like a dream come true after years of conflicting shooting schedules.  

In the upcoming narrative shift, Neelu will be stepping into the role of the family’s Pardadi (great-grandmother). She described the character as a warm, lovable figure who will anchor a new family dynamic consisting of her son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. Highlighting the fresh energy this unit brings to the story, she noted that viewers can look forward to a vibrant blend of emotional depth, family drama, and lively entertainment as their storyline begins to take shape on screen.  

Stepping into an already established cast presents its own set of creative challenges, but Neelu praised the warm reception she received from leads Rohit Purohit, Samridhii Shukla, and the rest of the team. She mentioned that the positive, encouraging atmosphere on set immediately put the incoming actors at ease, giving them the confidence to seamlessly integrate into the show’s well-defined world.  

The actress also expressed deep appreciation for producer Rajan Shahi, who recently hosted a grand havan to welcome the new cast members and seek blessings for the upcoming chapter. Neelu shared how meaningful it was to learn about the production house's 18-year tradition of offering prayers at the same temple, emphasizing how rare and reassuring it is to work with a team that holds such deep respect for cultural traditions and shared blessings.  

While keeping specific plot details under wraps as the character arcs are still developing in the initial shooting phase, Neelu assured audiences that the new family will bring an authentic touch of freshness while remaining true to the core emotional essence that has defined Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for nearly two decades. She promises that the ongoing narrative will maintain its trademark balance of drama and heart-touching moments.
