In a significant casting development surrounding one of Indian cinema’s most anticipated cinematic projects, veteran actor Anupam Kher has officially joined director Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming mythological magnum opus, Ramayana. Confirmed via official updates from the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival platform, Kher has lent his voice to the iconic character of Jatayu, the noble vulture king who valiantly confronts Ravana to protect Goddess Sita. The official confirmation puts an end to months of industry rumors suggesting that megastar Amitabh Bachchan would be voicing the legendary character.
Jatayu’s heroic battle with Ravana is widely regarded as one of the most poignant, emotionally charged sequences in the ancient Indian epic. Director Nitesh Tiwari has highlighted this specific confrontation as a central visual and narrative peak in the film, designed to leverage advanced visual effects alongside powerful vocal performances. Kher’s gravitas and seasoned voice modulation are set to bring a deeply moving, authoritative dimension to the character's tragic sacrifice on screen.
Envisioned as a monumental two-part cinematic saga, Ramayana features a stellar ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
