Aryaman Vikram Birla and John Abraham Launch Reebok’s Return to Competitive Football Sponsorship in India
Reebok has partnered with NorthEast United FC to launch the club’s official new season jersey, marking the brand’s strategic return to competitive football sponsorship in India.
Global athletic brand Reebok has officially announced its return to competitive football sponsorship in India through a strategic partnership with Indian Super League club NorthEast United FC (NEUFC). The official new season jersey was unveiled at an event in Mumbai, attended by Aryaman Vikram Birla, Director of Aditya Birla Group, and John Abraham, Co-Owner of NorthEast United FC.
The collaboration aligns with Reebok’s broader global strategy of establishing athletic credibility through regional sports culture. Representing the eight states of Northeast India, the two-time Durand Cup winner NEUFC provides a direct connection to one of the country's most active football fanbases. The newly launched jersey features eight stars as a tribute to the region's collective football heritage.
Speaking at the launch, Aryaman Vikram Birla noted that sportswear continues to expand rapidly within the Indian fashion and lifestyle sector. He emphasized that partnering with NorthEast United FC allows Reebok to leverage its athletic background while connecting with a passionate regional sports community.
Echoing these views, NEUFC Co-Owner John Abraham highlighted that the alliance reflects the club's long-term ambitions both on and off the field. Additionally, Arjun Ramamoorthy, Brand Head of Reebok India, and Mandar Tamhane, CEO of NEUFC, affirmed that the multi-faceted partnership aims to raise performance standards while engaging the next generation of football enthusiasts.
The launch event featured key NEUFC squad members, including Gurmeet Singh, Buanthanglun Samte, Redeem Tlang, and Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia. Following the formal announcement, the players debuted the new Reebok kit during a 5-a-side exhibition match.
