D23 2026: From Zootopia 3 to Kingdom Hearts Anime — Every Major Announcement From Disney’s Biggest Fan Event

Disney’s flagship fan event, D23 2026, concluded after a three-day run in Anaheim, California, leaving global audiences and Indian fans with a slate of major entertainment reveals. Spanning animated sequels, expanding streaming franchises, and star-studded honors, the showcase offered key updates across Disney's cinematic and television roadmap.  

Leading the animation announcements, Zootopia 3 was officially confirmed to be in early development. Stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan took the stage to share the news alongside Disney Animation Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush, teasing a new chapter for the hit family franchise.  

In the live-action domain, Lucasfilm unveiled a first-look teaser for Star Wars: Starfighter, scheduled for theatrical release on May 28, 2027. Director Shawn Levy and lead actor Ryan Gosling introduced the project on stage, with Gosling portraying pilot Kade Auberon in his debut appearance within the Star Wars universe.  

For gaming and animation enthusiasts, Disney announced a new original Kingdom Hearts anime series in development for Disney+ and Disney Channel, created in collaboration with game creator Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix. The adaptation aims to expand the long-running crossover franchise for global audiences.  

Television streaming updates included a teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, setting its premiere date for November 20, 2026, on Disney+. The upcoming season features Asian-American actress Ming-Na Wen in the role of Hera.  

The event concluded with the annual Disney Legends ceremony, honoring actor Dwayne Johnson and former Disney CEO Bob Iger for their contributions to the company's legacy. High-profile industry figures, including Robert Downey Jr. and Harrison Ford, joined the stage to recognize the honorees.
