IG Kumaon Directs Police Leadership to Prioritize Crime Control and High-Quality Investigations

Inspector General of Police (Kumaon Range) conducted a comprehensive regional crime review meeting with police leadership across districts to assess the prevailing law and order situation, evaluate ongoing investigations, and outline strategic policing priorities. The session focused on tightening crime control mechanisms, elevating the technical quality of police investigations, and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement institutions.  

A primary focus of the review centered on tackling emerging digital threats and financial crimes. Directives were issued to accelerate the resolution of cyber fraud cases, particularly those exploiting senior citizens and vulnerable demographics. The IG stressed the importance of robust technical evidence gathering, swift asset tracing, and timely financial recoveries to ensure meaningful relief for victims alongside stringent legal prosecution.  

The leadership also prioritized crimes against women and children, instructing district officers to handle such cases with heightened sensitivity and strict procedural compliance. Emphasizing preventive measures, directives were set to intensify active patrolling in identified sensitive zones, expedite timeline-bound investigations, and increase public awareness regarding community welfare and reporting modules.  

Addressing property and land-related offenses, clear instructions were established to dismantle organized fraudulent networks and initiate process-driven asset confiscations acquired through criminal activities. Furthermore, police officials were advised to conduct continuous tenant, worker, and verification drives across residential and commercial sectors as a core preventive measure.  

Concluding the operational review, the IG reiterated that unbiased, merit-based investigations and prompt grievance redressal remain non-negotiable standards for Kumaon Police. District commanders were urged to lead with proactive field presence, maintain strict discipline within administrative ranks, and build strong community partnerships to ensure lasting peace and security across the region.
