Exclusive Interview : Kanwar Dhillon Opens Up About His Acting Journey, Dream Projects, and Why Television Will Always Be Home

Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in this industry? Do you have any other dream or a dream project that you want to do one day?

Kanwar Dhillon: My biggest inspiration has always been my father. Growing up, I watched him work as an actor and spent a lot of time on film and television sets. Seeing the atmosphere, watching the shooting process and observing his dedication made me fall in love with acting from a very young age.

Everyone around me always believed I would become an actor one day because I was fascinated by this world. That dream stayed with me, and I'm grateful that my journey began with television when I was just 18. Television has given me everything and will always remain a very important part of my life.

At the same time, I've always dreamed of seeing myself on the big screen. I don't believe in rushing that journey or turning away from television just for the sake of it. I'll make that transition only when the right opportunity comes along.

If I had to name one dream project, it would definitely be playing the lead in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. I've always admired his vision, storytelling and filmmaking style, and working with him is something I truly hope becomes a reality one day.

Q. Is there something new you're working on that you want your fans to know about?

Kanwar Dhillon: Right now, my entire focus is on Udne Ki Aasha Season 2, which has recently gone on air. The show has taken a seven-year leap, I've got a fresh new look, and audiences will see a completely different phase of the story.

Because of my shooting schedule, I haven't been able to accept the OTT, web series and advertisement offers coming my way. Hopefully, once my schedule eases a little, I'll be able to explore another project alongside the show. But for now, it's all about Udne Ki Aasha.

Q. What's the most challenging project you've taken on? Is there any kind of work that scares you?

Kanwar Dhillon: I wouldn't call it my most challenging project, but Udne Ki Aasha is definitely one of the most exciting roles I've played. Characters like this don't come around very often. It allows me to perform action, comedy, emotional scenes and intense drama, giving me the chance to explore every side of myself as an actor.

I'm someone who genuinely enjoys working. I'm a workaholic and can comfortably manage multiple projects if time allows.

The only thing that really worries me isn't the work itself. It's the uncertainty that comes with this profession. You spend years building your career, and life can change very quickly. That's something I think about occasionally because nothing is permanent. Success and difficult times are both temporary phases.

Q. What's the best advice you've received about the industry, and how do you deal with fame?

Kanwar Dhillon: I've learned that nothing lasts forever—whether it's success, fame or setbacks. Once you accept that reality, it's much easier to stay grounded.

I don't let public attention define me. My focus has always been on doing good work, giving every project my best and constantly improving as an actor. That's what matters most to me.

Q. What's one thing you wish you knew when you started? What advice would you give aspiring actors?

Kanwar Dhillon: Patience is everything. This industry takes time, and success doesn't happen overnight. You have to trust the process, keep learning and continue working hard.

I'd tell every newcomer to believe in themselves and never look for shortcuts. Respect every opportunity that comes your way, don't dismiss platforms that help you grow, and keep working on your craft. If you're sincere, dedicated and consistent, the right opportunities will eventually find you.
