In a significant boost for spiritual cinema, the Uttarakhand government has declared the movie Hanuman Ansh, based on the life and teachings of Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj, tax-free across the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the decision following a special screening at Centrio Mall in Dehradun, attended by his wife Geeta Dhami, cabinet ministers, and state officials.
Speaking to the media after the screening, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted Uttarakhand's identity as Devbhumi—a land deeply rooted in spiritual heritage and revered saints. He noted that Kainchi Dham has become a global center of faith for millions of devotees, and a film depicting the simple, compassionate life of Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj serves as a meaningful bridge to connect audiences with Sanatan values and regional heritage.
Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh stars Shobinav Satya and Chandan K. Anand in key roles. Produced on a modest budget of around 2 crore rupees, the film avoids grand visual effects, focusing instead on core themes of selfless devotion, humility, and service to humanity.
Despite releasing on a limited number of screens initially, the film has generated strong word-of-mouth momentum and solid box-office performance. Following its domestic release on August 7, the film is set to expand to international markets starting September 11. Encouraging local viewing, Chief Minister Dhami urged residents across the state to watch the inspiring film with their families.
