Korea’s Sci-Fi Action Spectacle ‘HOPE’ Set for Pan-India Theatrical Release on September 25

South Korea’s most ambitious production to date, the sci-fi action spectacle HOPE, is officially arriving in Indian cinemas on September 25, 2026. Distributed across the country by Star Entertainment, the high-concept thriller will be released in five languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Korean.

Written and directed by acclaimed auteur Na Hong-jin (The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, The Wailing), HOPE marks his return to feature filmmaking after a decade. The survival actioner brings together a massive global ensemble including Korean stars Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Hoyeon, alongside Hollywood heavyweights Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.

The narrative unfolds in Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where the unexpected sighting of a mysterious, predatory threat throws the community into chaos. Police outpost chief Bum-seok finds himself forced to confront a reality that tests the limits of human survival and instinct.

Ahead of its Indian launch, the film recorded South Korea's biggest opening day for a 2026 release with over 330,000 admissions, alongside setting records for the highest overseas pre-sale value in Korean film history across 200+ territories. HOPE also made its world premiere in Competition for the Palme d’Or at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, marking Na Hong-jin's fourth consecutive invitation to the festival.
