Mohammed Nagaman Lateef Reflects on Chosen Sisterhood, Personal Mentorship, and Cherished Raksha Bandhan Memories

Mohammed Nagaman Lateef, currently serving as the Talent Head for Balaji Telefilms’ Hoonur initiative and founder of the International Iconic Awards, has spoken about the significance of Raksha Bandhan and how he celebrates the festival without a biological sister. Over his years in Mumbai’s entertainment industry, Lateef has developed strong familial bonds with several prominent figures who tie him Rakhi annually.

Highlighting the relationships that shape his personal life, Lateef mentioned veteran television actor Rupali Ganguly and actor Shiny Doshi among his close sisters. He noted that his connection with Doshi solidified during her tenure on the hit series Pandya Store, evolving from professional association into a lasting personal bond.

Lateef emphasized that these relationships extend beyond actors to include industry executives and long-time friends outside entertainment. He pointed to Mala, Senior Vice President at ZEE5, alongside his early Mumbai friend Nicky Verma, who has traditionally been the first to tie him a Rakhi since his initial move to the city.

Recalling lighthearted moments from his early career days in Mumbai, Lateef shared a humorous incident involving Shiny Doshi. Arriving at his first residence in a red car without parking space, Doshi’s frantic entry led to an impromptu ritual setup where Lateef struggled to find basic items like a traditional lamp for the aarti, a memory he looks back on with fond humor.

Beyond festive traditions, Lateef values the practical wisdom and guidance he receives from his chosen sisters. He noted that interactions with figures like Ganguly offer valuable life lessons and grounded perspectives that help him navigate both personal dynamics and his corporate leadership responsibilities within talent management.

In addition to his chosen sisterhood in Mumbai, Lateef highlighted his close connection with his cousin sister, Nasira, whom he described as mature, well-educated, and consistently supportive of his professional milestones. For this year's Raksha Bandhan, Lateef plans to keep celebrations understated, preferring to spend quiet, quality time at home surrounded by family and friends.
